The bunny bits state that All Ship Weapons are SPECIAL cards that may be saved by players. These cards are not assigned to any ship in particular. A player may use any saved Ship Weapon card from any of his ships in space during his turn only. Does this mean that ship weapons must be saved in order to be used? The wording implies that they may be saved, but they don't have to be. The reason I ask this question: can you play a ship weapon (special) directly from your hand like standard special cards? I know you can't launch a ship directly from your hand... I figure (special) ship weapon cards work the same way. Just checking.

Actually,
"SAME TURN SHIP LAUNCH
•A ship card (SPECIAL card) may be played directly from a player’s hand, but only if he intends to launch the ship during the same turn."
Yes, I play that you can launch a ship weapon special card from your hand as you can in Quest.

Oh wow, I totally missed that. Okay, so you can play a ship card directly from your hand in lieu of flipping your top run card, but only if you have a bunny (or bunnies) down and launch that ship into space. Very interesting. Thanks for the clarification!

But keep in mind that you can only play Special cards on your turn. So if it is someone else's turn and they attack you, you can't use and ship weapons - saved or in your hand. We used to allow it, then read the game play privileges and found this out. It stinks if you are being attacked, but that's why it's called Killer Bunnies.
