I've sadly not touched this deck since around Christmas, as life won't wait. The last thing we did was playtested Conquest/Quest with the inclusion of stand in metal cards to bring us up to the Orange booster, and found that metals were too numerous.
As such I'm planning on scaling back and waiting to see the contents of the violet deck. Tentative contents are as follows.
1-20 Alien Carrots 21-40
21-24 Unobtanium (Black Die)
25-28 Platinum (White Die)
29-32 Plutonium (Green Die)
33-37 Alien Bunnies (Conquest)
38 Mordens (Unobtainium)
39 Mordens (Platinum)
40 Mordens (Plutonium)
41 Alien Hive (High)
42 Alien Hive (Low)
43 Alien Hive (Closed)
44 Free Spores
45-46 Mean Green Bean
47 Terrible Misfortune - The Common Cold
48 Cyber B-1000
49 Cyber B-X
50-52 Copper/Silver/Gold? (Depending on contents of Purple deck this may change)
53 Terrible Misfortune (Casting) Give us McNeal (Futurama reference)
54 Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow (Doctor Who reference.) - May be used to cancel the effect of any aggressive (pink box excepting choose a carrot) card.
Further to this, here are ideas for card art for metal cards.
1x Copper/Silver/Gold/Platinum/Plutonium/Unobtainium element card
Platinum Blonde
Platinum Ring
Platinum Card
Avatar floating unobtainium
Unobtainium genie lamp
No Unobtainium
Plutonium Rod
Case of Plutonium (Back to the Future)
Pluto-nium (A radioactive pluto the dog)
Any better ideas?
You may ask why such a stark reduction in the amount of metals? One of the things that has become apparent in recent games is that 9 metal cards is certainly enough for the game when you are only including both the Quest and Conquest Blue, Yellow and Red decks. The previous idea produced inundation, which shouldn't be the goal. Sitting at the current 330 cards, we're fine with what we have.
However, adding in Quest violet, orange, green and a 112 card alien expansion adds another 300 or so cards to the game, and depending on CTAs provision for the metals exchange in future boosters, we may not have enough metal to remain relevant.
At the same time, the addition of more Gold, Silver and Copper made it so that vast amounts of cash moved around quickly, as the reserves built up rapidly and high die rolls resulted in fiscal dominance for one player. The splitting of resources among three new metals prevented the problem somewhat.
The amount of metal included may be tweaked further (I think this may provide enough metal to play with what currently exists up to Conquest Red and Quest Steel or White) but that is future Adam's problem. For now, I'm going to try and sketch some nice metal card pictures.
If anybody is interested in helping out, drop me a private message and tell me which cards from the list you'd be willing to do.
