I've been playing killer bunnies for quite some time now, have read through the companion guide many times and know some of the more 'intricate' interaction rules that occur in this game relatively well.
Yet one thing I'm still confused about are in regards to defense cards, which is such a 'novice' question and it pains me to ask. However, it constantly irks me.
When I use defense cards, I protect all my bunnies in the bunny circle from the effect of that weapon. This is perfectly clear to me.
However, what is not clear to me is how long the 'effects' of that protection lasts. For example, for simplicity sake, let's say my friend uses a 'sword' against me. I use a defense card. He then uses 'rooney reusables' and sends it back at me. Do I again have to play defense cards to defend against it or is this an 'illegal' move since I had protected my bunnies from that specific weapon already earlier?
This similar situation also arises when the 'cheap' version of Rooney's is played and weapons are immediately played where someone continually buys a weapon over and over.
I've been playing that it only protects you from that weapon for that one particular instance (e.g., I'm not already 'protected' from the 'sword' in the second attack in the first scenario). I'm 95% sure this is correct, but I want to check to shut my mind up.
Thanks!

Tasty,
I agree with you. I think of it as a one-time deterrent that is 'spent'. So the play would look like this: - Sword - Defense card(s) - Discard Sword + Defense
Then, hypothetically: - Rooney's Reusables / purchased weapon from Rooney's / black P-card + black pawn
