Our Jupiter games have been awfully long (5-6 hours) compared to our Quest, Conquest, or Odyssey games.
Is anybody interested in discussing and working on a set of "fan rules" (or house rules, if you prefer) that speeds up Jupiter play by elimination (actual removal from the decks) of all cards that are exclusive to "ground" play? This would include Feed The Bunny's (but not Sustain the Bunny). Basically anything that has a pink box and keep everything with a blue box.

Wanna know how I speed up my games? The planets only move each time a ship is launched. Earth and Saturn move D6, Mars moves D8 and Jupiter moves D12. Takes away the clunky "end of every turn" mechanic and makes planetary movement a lot more random. Beyea Aliens move on the turn of the player that launched that alien.
We also sell bunnies and ships from the discard for 10 Dolla each.

That is an interesting idea to speed up the game by making the planets change position less often. I think that could work with my idea of removing most of the ground play cards. (Did we really need a "sustain" that was different from a Feed? There just aren't enough bunnies to keep the game moving.)
I like it. Anybody else have ideas too?

Makes sense to remove the ground cards somewhat, at least right now with the incomplete version of the game floating about. Maybe ground play will become more important, but right now it's a chore. Thing is, bunnies exist in the bunny circle purely as a staging area for launching a ship. Removing these cards essentially makes bunnies without a ship invincible.
I've found that Jupiter is a fine game when playing to a points system to determine the winner instead of the classic "magic carrot wins" scenario. We adapted the points system somewhat.
+1 point per manned ship in space at the end of the game +1 point per large non magic carrot card +3 points for magic carrot +1 point for each enemy ship destroyed (including Beyea Aliens) +1 point for each enemy ground bunny killed
We encourage brutish play.

Yeah, maybe it doesn't make sense until Jupiter is complete. I see nothing wrong with making the ground bunnies invincible (at least, right now) as nothing much interesting happens to them there anyway. They're either killed by conventional ground weapons or killed by Feeds. Maybe just removing the ground weapons and feeds would be enough for my needs. There are a couple of cards that require a ground bunny and a space bunny and those wouldn't be affected.

Just played through a game last night sans the ground weapons and feeds. Pink boxes still meant needing a bunny in the bunny circle, and the total cards removed = only 18. However, the game speed was slightly improved with initial hands being all around more useful (since ground weapons and feeds are useless for getting yourself off the starting line.)

5 hours! Wow. We take less time than quest for us. Maybe 3 hours, if that...
