I just picked up Quest for the Magic Carrot a few weeks ago, and my friends and family love it. I was going to go ahead and pick up a few booster decks to have ready when we decided to move on, but to my utter despair, the red booster deck is sold out everywhere.
I can't seem to find any information on whether it's only temporary, or discontinued (although the latter doesn't make much sense), or even that anyone else has really noticed. There's a pack on Amazon selling for 59.99 (!) and one on eBay that's already over 20.00... what's going on, and does this mean I'm merely stuck with the blue deck forever?

Interesting question. I asked around over the weekend and no stores near me had it. One even told me it was OOP.
As red booster has 4 carrots in it as well as Rooney's, it could really discourage you from buying the rest if you're missing these key components.
If I find one I'll let you know.

As red booster has 4 carrots in it as well as Rooney's, it could really discourage you from buying the rest if you're missing these key components. If I find one I'll let you know. In part 5 of the interview MagicCarrot.com did with CTA, JB said: We did a revision of Quest, that’ll be… well, Playroom hasn’t decided when they’re gonna put it out yet. It’s kind of just like a… we went back and corrected a few typos and did stuff like that. We added an extra line of text that really saved the cards. But yeah, those three were never really supposed to be there the way they are. So with an extra line of text, though, they’re fine. So maybe they're clearing the distribution channels of the "old" stock in preparation for the new stock. Because we all know that when there is a new version, the old version is practically worthless. Of course, Elisa from Playroom also said Playroom would release the Nu series separately in 2009, which has come and gone.

Interesting. Thank you both very much for the information! I'll just try to wait patiently in hopes of a new and improved deck rather than spend a small fortune on one of the few older ones still on the market.

Found a red deck at a games store near me. It's $25 aussie dollars.
If anyone wants it, let me know & I'll go grab it. Not looking to make a profit, just charge for game plus postage.

I am in the same boat!
My friends and I just over this summer found out about this game. We all love it. I had to buy the blue starter kit on amazon. I wanted the red booster deck but it is absolutely no where to be found. Im glad to hear about the new chocolate one and that it can be added whenever order.
I just hope the release the red again soon then I can get violet.

I spoke with Jeff about this, he said that these decks will be re-released late September early November again. So if you are patient, you should be able to get everything you need then. This is killing me as I want the last of the Kinderbunnies to finish this off as well. But alas....I hope his time frame is correct.

I have spoken with Playroom Entertainment about this and they said that the issue was that they had major manufacturing issues this past year, which has caused a shortage of many decks, mainly the red and onyx, in a lot of retailers. The result is a lot of retails that still have copies hiking up their prices pretty considerably.
She told me that Amazon.com and other local retailers should have more in stock the second week of November.
Seems like Jeff and Playroom are in agreement, so we shall see!

Looks like all decks are back in stock on Amazon including the new Chocolate deck! They are still unavailable on Amazon and every other website I have bookmarked to find them. I was able to find a couple stores left in my area that hadn't sold out yet, but that's it.
