I really, really like the idea of a stock market. Must be from my watching my 401k dwindle like Pac-man after getting killed. (bee-you-you-you….bwamp-bwamp)
My suggestion would be hard to keep track of, but goes as follows:
The small cards would be a deck of 12, split below
Small Card Stock Multipliers:
0 – Company bankrupt (3 per deck)
1- Normal stock (7 per deck)
2 – Stock split (2 per deck)
The carrots are what trigger the market. Each time a carrot(s) is taken from the market (by CAC, $, or any other means), roll the yellow die. That is the new cost of a small stock card. You may also sell your stocks at that dice value, multiplied by the multiplier on the card.
You may buy stock or sell stock on your turn, but not both.
Stock price is 12 at the beginning of the game.
Example:
The first carrot is CAC’d, the carrot owner (Player A) rolls the yellow dice, it comes up ‘3’. Deciding he has cash, he decides to buy two cards for a total of $6. One is a normal stock, the other is ‘company bankrupt’, which he can keep.
Later in the game, another carrot is chosen by player ‘B’, the yellow dice roll is ‘9’. When it becomes player A’s turn again, he may sell his stock card for $9 x 1 (normal stock) = $9.
Other stuff: PI cards include:
Stock market crash – everyone discards all stock small cards they own
Recession - everyone must discard one of their small stock cards. (Which is why player A in the example above kept his ‘bankrupt’ card instead of ditching it immediately.)
Growth – everyone who has at least one small stock card may draw another one.
Other stuff: ‘Diverse Portfolio’ can be used to sell stock out of turn if you have it saved.
