Ummmm. I just picked a die color not really thinking about it. I like the suggestions. Zodiac = Black, Mysterious Places = Yellow, Pawns = Red sounds good to me. I would say we run the revisions by GreenLiquid but since he/she's not posted since Oct 2005 I'm not sure how much more feedback we'll get. I think that two years is enough time for the original idea submitter (GreenLiquid) to create artwork if s/he chose to do so. It isn't as if we usurp her/his idea (it is still there and anybody could use it exactly as submitted)! There are practical game-playing and grammatical issues with a lot of submitted ideas, though. I make subtle changes to a most of the ideas when I create art for them. Sometimes it is to fix grammatical problems and sometimes because there is simply limited space on the card--as you have identified. This was one of the more challenging examples because I wasn't sure what s/he meant, nor has s/he been available to ask. If art had been created, somebody would have played with the card and uncovered these problems. I started artwork for this card some time ago, but haven't completed it yet, so I appreciate the timeliness of your suggestions. I will attempt to complete the card by the end of May. Perhaps the Card Hall of Fame criteria should include (1) that some art be created [did you know that over 100 "fan art" cards have been posted?]; and that (2) they've been play-tested by several people over a period of time (not just a weekend).

One other thing. The card text could be trimed slightly if you took out "player's and all opponents' corresponding cards" and replaced it with "all players' corresponding cards" like you were initially discussing. Your disertation on possessives of plural and singular nouns was spot on. Since we're on a roll (pun intended), I came up with this text, which allows about one die box's worth of space (vertically) additional: (1) is that what we want? (2) Shortening the text as you suggested wouldn't save us more vertical space--unless we can shave off another two lines of text. (3) I also put the colors in order of the dice boxes.

The text looks good... if you can get it all on the card. We can always cheat and go the route of the O.R.P. and not worry about putting the corresponding color/die in the text and incorporate them into the picture. Since you've already started the picture, that may not be possible. Otherwise we can shorten the text by changing the last line to "Repeat for all other supplies" but that looks to only save one line of text. Out of all the cards I've seen, the only one that you've done graphics on that seem "off" is One Carrot Ring. It seems impractical to play it since the player being targeted can always refuse (and I really love that card idea and your art too!). I agree that the cards need to be play tested... but I'm not sure my eight year old daughter is going to be the best person to try to figure out with me what works and does not work.

When I work on cards, I start bottom-up, so the rule text must be complete first (that determines the area needed, although minor changes can often be incorporated), and then the title (which must fit on top of the "rule" text) should that need another line for "Weapon Level" or something. Then comes the "art", which is often more complicated than it looks. So, really, having good rule text is of primary importance to me. I've already shortened the "art" area to remove the kink (lower right corner), so putting it back is now more work--I might as well start over in that case.
